Fancy meeting you here! I'm Trickey.
I'm a Product Manager / UX Designer based in Denver, Colorado.
Currently, I work on enterprise software and help solve a ton of complex problems that the world's largest
media and production companies face on the daily. I bring brilliant products into the world through research;
a deep understanding of people and their needs; and design that is not only slick, but functional and intuitive. Both in
and outside of work, I strive to be a leader, to empower others, and make the world a better place than I found it.
Personal Philosophies
The key to
building exceptional experiences is deeply understanding the intersection of critical business and market gaps and problems users have-- not just diving
in straight to solutioning. Understanding business
process and creating allies outside of the product realm is crucial for buy-in and strategic development and success of anything we build.
Taking a page from Kim Scott’s book, I strive to communicate candidly and directly to everyone I work with and
welcome feedback with open arms. Being honest and constructive is important for everyone to grow and develop.
I don’t shy away from conflict, but I don't seek it blindly.
Great leadership equals a great experience. Even when not in leadership positions, I’m naturally driven to lead
and rally others toward a common goal. I believe the key to great leadership is delegation and teamwork—
I am not the superhero, my team is. Though I am a highly confident and capable producer, I want to encourage
and build others up to acheive their true potential.
Toolkits and Processes
Research is the cornerstone for successful products. Be it interviews, usability testing, surveys, user groups, ethnographic studies
or what have you; thorough research and feedback ensures what you are building has value, reduces frustration, and prevents
crazy functionality. It takes time, but it will save so much time later down the road.
After working in startup culture, I've learned the value of rapid testing and compromise with sharp deadlines.
Though I definitely have preferred tools, I largely believe they are a means to an end.
Empathy, research, feedback, and design process bring infinitely more value to outcomes than any particular tool. If for
some reason you're a Microsoft Paint evangelist though— girl, bye.
Tools I'm personally a fan of: ProductBoard, Maze, Sketch, Figma, Invision, Abstract, Axure, ProtoPie, Google Suite, and MacOS.
Random Factoids
I love learning, growing, and improving myself both mentally and physically. Currently, I'm learning Japanese
in my free time and I'm getting back into running 15 miles a week. I'm also active on Linkedin and enjoy
engaging with others in design and business communities.
